Graphic Design Type II  (ADE 350)

This course is a continued investigation (from Type 1) into the uses of typography in effective communication. In support of this goal, the course addresses issues of contemporary and traditional typographic principles and practices. This includes issues of hierarchy, typographic formats, organization of space, type/image  relationships in constructing messages, and the use of technology in typographic design.

Digital Imaging (ADE 365 01) > Digital Imaging Design BLOG

This course is designed to allow the student to explore a wide range of techniques and stylistic approaches to illustration and image making for graphic design. Emphasis will be placed on conceptual thinking and distinctive personal solutions through a series of projects that use collage, digital photography, and computer illustration.

Semester Assignments : Digital Imaging

Assignment 1

  • Create 5 gestural vector sketches using Analog sketch to scan to Illustrator
  • sketch 40 illustrations of 1 single 3D object
  • Create 4 finals and present on a single board with the original sketch so 5 in a row.

Assignment 2

  • Create 12 postcards using 3 categorical constraints
  • email your word spreadsheet .pdf  that states which postcard falls under each 3 categories
  • present first round of sketches
  • present concept sketches
  • final 12 cards due printed for critique
  • email PDF

Assignment 3

  • Create a Business Identity project using 1 well received logo from Assignment 1.
  • Create a Business Card, Postcard/Letterhead and Envelope
  • final refined concepts printed for critique
  • present concept sketches mounted on black board

Motion Design (ADE 495 01) > Motion Design BLOG

This course is an introduction to Motion Design which covers the areas of commercial, broadcast, title sequences and music videos. This course will include lectures, sample movies and demonstrations of the background history, techniques and applications of motion graphics used in cinematic, broadcast, and web media. Projects will cover basic motion graphics principles, design and composition, typography in motion, timing and drama, storyboarding and planning, sound and music development and synchroni- zation. We will be using Flash and After Effects.These industry standard applications will be applied during the course.
